Learn to Surf

Surfing is a fun activity for everyone to do all year round in Durban. If you can swim and do a push up, then you can learn to surf and surfing is a must experience for you. We provide all equipment for your lesson, the soft top surf board, a leash, wax and a wet suit should you want to use one. Please wear either your swimming cozzy or board shorts to your lesson and bring sun screen, we highly recommend www.surfyogis.co.za. Please book all your lessons directly with Kim on 0768694705 or info@surflessonsdurban.co.za.

We do ask that you please arrive 15 minutes before your lesson to sign indemnity forms and suit up before heading out for your lesson. We work on hourly slots, and if you are late for your lesson, it sets all our other lessons back, depending on our schedule for the day, this may cut into your lesson. Surfing is fun and learning to do something for the first time can be challenging, if you arrive with a great attitude and looking to have a great time and a good laugh, you won’t leave disappointed. Please remember that surfing is weather dependant, and we only do lessons for beginners on the days that the conditions are perfect to learn.

WHAT WE OFFER

Beginner Surf Lessons
A beginner surf lesson is private instruction for you, your family members, friends, partner or co-workers. We provide one on one tuition for up to 4 people in a group. Should you have groups of more than 4, we will provide each group with a qualified instructor. You will start off with 15 minutes of beach work, learning about your equipment, how to position yourself on the board and learn how to master your pop up to get you up and riding on the waves. You will then go into the water for 45 minutes and learn how to stand up and ride the waves to the beach.
Surf Camps
During the school holidays, we run surf camps. We start the day at 10am, with a surf lesson and then go on to do beach activities until 2pm that day. We provide a light lunch of either a hot dog or a burger and a juice and the kids get to make new friends and enjoy a day on the beach instead of in front of a television or computer screen.
Surf Missions for beginners or the more experienced surfer
Land and feel immediately welcome, we pick you up from the airport and on the way to your place of residence, we get to know each other a little and discuss your surfing expectations. We can take you to some of the finest surf spots KZN has to offer. Whether you are here to learn to surf or whether you are a more experienced surfer, we will work out a programme that suits you and fits in with your stay. We will take you surfing every day that the weather allows and show you how to either learn to surf and understand the sport better or provide you with a memorable surf trip. We can recommend some great places to stay, eat, grab a local craft beer, we’ll even help you with you bookings if English isn’t your first language.
Birthday Parties & All Occasion Surf Experiences
Whether you’re 5 or 65 we can offer you a memorable surfing experience for any occasion, for your friends and family. Birthday parties, hens and stag parties, work functions, we can add surfing to the mix and make it an occasion worth remembering. Jade Goldstone Event Design & Planning is on hand to discuss your party planning needs and all you have to do is arrive and all else will be looked after from there.
